Eurofin is active in the investment and corporate banking sectors with a particular specialisation in the Maritime Industry. Amongst our Shipping Finance activities we deal with private and public shipping companies, capital markets transactions and the restructuring of problem loans.
The people

MSc in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and MSc in Shipping and Shipbuilding Management from M.I.T. After finishing his studies, he worked for a while as a superintendent engineer for two Greek shipping companies based in Piraeus. In 1977 he moved to London and held executive positions with a number of International Banks specialising in Shipping and Corporate Finance, before establishing Eurofin in 1984. At Eurofin, he used his technical and financial background to build a strong and successful financial advisory business with emphasis on shipping.

MSc Shipping, Trade and Finance, City University Business School, BSc Economics and Business Economics, Southampton University. Yiannis, gained experience in shipping through short-term employments with Golden Union Shipping Co. (which included time at sea) , Carriers Chartering S.A. in Piraeus and Angus Graham & Partners in London. He then joined Laiki Private Banking in Cyprus, an HSBC Group associate in 1999 where he held positions in both portfolio management and client advice, servicing expatriate as well as offshore High Net Worth Individuals. He joined the Athens office of Eurofin in 2002 and is now spearheading the company's shipping operations in Greece.

MBA, INSEAD. BSc & MSc in Mechanical Engineering, National Technical University of Athens (ΕΜΠ). After working as a Logistics Manager for a multinational company in Greece, Dimitris joined Lamda Shipyards as Deputy Commercial and Technical Director, focusing on account management, drafting quotations and negotiating contracts. He was also a project manager in several ship and yacht repairs. After his MBA, Dimitris worked in the UK and Singapore before joining Seafin in 2008 where he has successfully expanded the group's corporate finance and shipping finance activities in the Asia Pacific region out of the Singapore office and participated as a speaker in shipping finance forums.

MBA, INSEAD. BA & MA in Economics & Management at Oxford University. Having started as an analyst at Deutsche Bank, he rose through the ranks to become Managing Director and European Head of Shipping & Logistics within the Investment Banking Division in London. Michael has originated, structured and executed in excess of 40 shipping related transactions across a broad range of products, including Structured Finance, M&A, ECM and LDCM. He has been running Eurofin’s London office since 2018, focusing on European and US shipping companies and capital providers.

ESCP Paris business school Master, DSCG finance. Gonzague started his shipping career in 2003 in Singapore at Louis Dreyfus Armateurs. After several finance positions within the Group covering logistics, ferry and bulk businesses, he has been appointed Group Chief Financial Officer in 2016 in Paris. After moving in Switzerland in 2020, he decided to focus on helping shipowners to get easier access to alternative financing solutions. He joined Eurofin Group as Managing Director Investment & Debt Advisory in 2021 to lead this project.

MSc in Finance & Economics, London School of Economics. Spiros started his career engaged in a project finance venture in Italy and further moved onto the corporate side, involved in the IPO process and IR management of Alpha Infotech in Athens. He then worked for Eurobank on various risk management projects and loan securitisations. Further, he switched to investment banking with Lead Finance, a corporate finance boutique actively involved in buyside and sellside in M&A, debt and corporate restructures. Prior to joining Eurofin in 2015 as head of Corporate Finance, he was employed by Clayton. His role was focused on the participation and management on projects for Greek and international financial institutions in corporate finance advisory, loan portfolio due diligence & valuations and AQR.

BA in Communication from the American College of Greece. Worked for Dreamtech Software, a software developer that specializes in shipping, where he helped develop client relationships and assisted in the functionality design and testing of new modules for the software. He joined Eurofin in November 2009 as an analyst and is now involved in financial analysis and modeling for Eurofin's international clientele in the shipping industry.

BSc in Economics and Management, University of Bristol. Filippos started his career at Optima Bank’s Corporate Banking Division, where he was responsible for evaluating company profiles and preparing financial analyses and models to assess financing possibilities and operating terms with prospective clients. He joined Eurofin’s team in April 2022, as an analyst.

MSc in International Shipping and Finance, Henley Business School, University of Reading, BSc Economics, Athens University of Economics and Business. Katerina started her shipping career in 2014, as a trainee at Oceanstar Management Inc and in 2015, she joined the Finance Department of Danaos Corporation, a US (NYSE) publicly listed shipping company, working closely with the Group’s Chief Financial Officer. She joined the Athens office of Eurofin Group in September 2023.

BSc in Business Administration, Athens University of Economics & Business. Anastasia started her career in November 2020, at the Athens office of Aksia (an international Alternative Investments Advisory firm), initially as an analyst at the Risk Management department and since October 2022, as a member of the Private Credit Investment Research team. Anastasia joined the Athens office of Eurofin Group, as an analyst in September 2023.

MBA, Warwick University. Makis, has spent 46 years in Greek banking. Commenced his carrier with Commercial Bank of Greece in 1970-72 and moved to JP Morgan Chase in 1972-76. Worked for Williams & Glyn’s Bank, now RBS in 1979-81 and in October 1981 joint Midland Bank plc, now HSBC France, Athens Branch. Was part of the initial team that established Midland Bank plc in Piraeus that year. During the period 07/2013 to 09/2019 headed the shipping activities of HSBC in Greece. Served HSBC for 38 consecutive years until end of September 2019. Since September 2020 cooperates with the Athens office of Eurofin focusing on the expansion of its advisory services to the local shipping community.

MBA, INSEAD. MSc (Structural Eng), Southampton U. Worked as a construction site Manager, IT analyst (Military service), and Financial Consultant with one of the “Big 8” auditing firms prior to joining HSBC Piraeus in 1987. During a 25 year career in ship financing with HSBC Panos established close ties with numerous ship-owners, financiers, and other influential professionals in Greek Shipping. In addition to structuring and executing shipping loans, he advised owners on cross-border banking transactions, hedging strategies and structured investments. In cooperation with Eurofin since January 2013.

MSc in Economics and Business Administration at Norwegian School of Economics (NHH). Frank started his career with Manufacturers Hanover (JP Morgan) as a credit analyst and spent 13 years with JP Morgan in Oslo, London and New York, most recently as Head of Shipping Americas in New York. In 2002 Frank joined DVB Bank as Partner of the M&A/Advisory team, and in 2006 joined DNB where he spent 7 years as Head of Corporate Finance and Senior Advisor, London. Since 2013, Frank has worked as an independent advisor. Frank’s expertise and transaction experience span a broad range of products including traditional shipfinance lending, alternative lenders/credit funds, sale leaseback, Norwegian project market, public debt capital markets (Norwegian/US bond and private placements), M&A, Private Equity, public equity and financial restructuring.
